Biography

Dr. Byzyka is an Assistant Research Engineer at the Transportation Research Center at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in the US. She has over 10 years of experience in civil engineering in Europe and the US. Her academic career began in 2015, as a doctoral student and teaching assistant at Brunel University London in the UK. She holds four academic degrees, the highest being a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering. Her expertise is in transportation systems and her research is supported by public- and private-sector organizations. She has published and presented her research in numerous scientific journals and international conferences. She actively participates in professional activities. She is a Guest Editor in the Applied Sciences journal; an Associate Editor of the Institution of Civil Engineers Publishing UK; a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK; an Associate Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers; and a Member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers. She is a member of the US Transportation Research Board standing committee on pavement maintenance, and a friend of six other committees. She is a panel member of the US National Cooperative Highway Research Program and a member of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Women's Council.
