Biography

Katsiaryna Salavei Bardos is an Associate Professor of Finance and Interim Director of Graduate Finance Programs at Fairfield University. She is an expert in corporate finance, equity valuation, real estate, behavioral finance and corporate social responsibility. Dr. Bardos has published articles in top journals such as the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Journal of Corporate Finance, the Journal of Financial Research, Financial Review, the Journal of Urban Economics, the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, and the Journal of Behavioral Finance. Her research received an outstanding paper award at Eastern Finance Association and the inaugural Best Research Paper Award at the Dolan School of Business; has been presented at the US Securities and Exchange Commission and referenced in a US Treasury White Paper and top tier academic journals. Her research also attracted media attention and has been discussed in CFO.com magazine, Canadian Business Journal, Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation, Stamford Advocate, Greenwich Time and other publications. Her industry experience includes modeling the riskiness of mortgage portfolio for General Electric Consumer Finance Group. She teaches Introduction to Finance, Financial Management and Seminar in Real Estate at undergraduate and Corporate Finance at MBA and MS levels. She serves as a faculty advisor to students competing in Charted Financial Analyst Investment Research Challenge and Real Estate Club. She served in a number of leadership roles including the Chair and Executive Secretary of the Academic Council at Fairfield University. She received a B.A. in Management from Hartwick College (Oneonta, NY) and Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Connecticut. Prior to joining Fairfield University, she worked as a Visiting Assistant Professor at New York University, Stern School of Business, where she taught real estate and corporate finance courses. She also taught a number of undergraduate and MBA courses at the University of Connecticut while in the Ph.D. program. Dr. Bardos is originally from Belarus. She came to the United States on a highly competitive US State Department Scholarship. Her accomplishments have been recognized by her alma mater Hartwick College. She was named to the Inaugural Wick 40 Under 40 in 2020, designed to recognize Hartwick alumni for their great achievements and contribution to the mission of the college since leaving Hartwick.
