Biography

I am a researcher in distributed systems and cloud computing with a long history of contributions in protocol development, fault-tolerance, data consistency and efficiently leveraging the hardware to maximize consistency. Recently I've shifted towards infrastructure support for AI and machine vision, notably in "edge" settings where cameras or other sensors are deployed into the real world and we need rapid decisions, event classification, or need to reactively take some form of action under time pressure. This will sound like robotics, and that is indeed a use-case, but I'm thinking at larger scale: all the product inspection stations in a factory, or medical decision-support using computer vision in surgical suites, or traffic intersections that are smart enough to warn of risk in time to prevent accidents.
