Biography

Dr. Tumuklu is an assistant professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His expertise and interests include computational physics in the applications of fluid dynamics for continuum and rarefied non-equilibrium flows, chemically reacting and radiating flows, stability analysis, combustion, data-driven methods, petascale parallel computing, and the exploitation of high-performance computing approaches for scientific software. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and developed a parallel DSMC solver which was coupled to an in-house LES solver to study the expansion nature of jets with a specific goal of modeling the jet-surface interaction of the spacecraft during the landing on the Moon (i.e., for the Artemis Project). He completed my Ph.D. studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2018 in the field of hypersonic flows and their stability. He has published 13 peer-reviewed journal articles, three of which were highlighted by the editors, in the top publication venues in the field of hypersonic flows along with more than 23 conference proceedings. He is a senior member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).
