Biography

Dr. Whelan is the academic advisor to students pursing a concentration in Biochemistry, and to students majoring in Biotechnology. She also teaches both Biochemistry and Biotechnology and her focus is on bringing real world experience to students in both programs. Rosemary’s teaching focuses on student-center learning, and she uses multiple approaches to optimize the student experience in her classes. Her classes incorporate POGIL (Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning) with lectures, case studies, Tegrity (recording of classes), peer tutoring and clickers. She directly interacts with local pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to maximize experiential learning.
