Biography

Sk Shamim Hasan Abir completed his Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 2017. He conducted CFD research on the impact of variable upstream pressure on the shock train structure in a diverging duct for his bachelor's thesis. Later in 2021, he pursued his MS in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas in Rio Grande Valley. He worked on a number of NSF-funded projects for his MS that were concerned with the synthesis of nanocrystals and nanofibers for photoluminescence, energy harvesting (i.e., piezoelectric and triboelectric nanogenerators), and biomotion sensor applications. He is presently doing his PhD at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a focus on the fabrication of field-assisted sintering of ceramic and metal composite materials as well as polymer/perovskites-based piezoelectric and triboelectric nanogenerators.
