American Legion - Department of Hawaii

Our Department welcomes VETERANS from all branches of our Armed Forces. Our mission is to implement the goals, aspirations, dreams, peace and blessings for our country, friends and families embodied in our preamble below. DEPARTMENT HISTORY Department of Hawaii traces it's beginning back to the beginning of The American Legion in 1919. In the American Legion, Departments represent states in the United states and some territories and foreign departments; 55 in total including District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico and Philippines. The Department of Hawaii is a member of FODPAL (Foreign and Outlying Departments and Posts of the American Legion) "We are more than 15,000 members of The American Legion, located outside the borders of the continental United States." Department of Hawaii has hosted National Conventions in the past. American Legion Baseball has had several teams from Hawaii, even winning the American Legion World Series (ALWS)!
