**Our Mission** Rapid developments in biotechnology and medicine necessitate the creation of scientific frameworks to ensure that researchers continue their work, that patients are supported and protected, and that the population be able to access necessary healthcare. The Brocher Foundation is a multidisciplinary reflection center dedicated to the study of medical development’s impact on society. A such, it welcomes experts to discuss the Ethical, Legal and Social implications of medical development and health policy. The results of their research shed light on fundamental questions that regard us all. Today, the Foundation is internationally recognized as one of the best forums for discussion of bioethical issues. The Foundation’s strong academic standing is ensured by both its base in the Lake Geneva region, which is world renowned for scientific excellence in the fields of life sciences and medicine, and by its Board of Directors’ members’ holding positions as rectors/presidents of The University of Geneva, The University of Lausanne, and the EPFL. The Foundation’s location in Geneva is an asset allowing for the meeting of experts from international organizations and researchers. The Foundation collaborates closely with the academic sphere and NGOs, and constantly acts as a major interlocutor of political and economic decision-makers. As such, the dialogue between the scientific world and members of the public is enriched by the insights of ethicists, jurists, sociologists, anthropologists, doctors, psychologists, economists and other experts, including those of the World Health Organization (WHO).
