Description
The U.S. National Science Foundation Division of Information and Intelligent Systems (IIS) supports research and education on the interrelated roles of people, computers and information. IIS includes three core programs as well as many interdisciplinary, crosscutting programs. **Core programs in IIS** **Human-Centered Computing** The Human-Centered Computing?(HCC) program addresses questions central to how humans work, learn and live in a world with ubiquitous computing and networks. HCC supports research to design new computing systems that amplify diverse human physical, cognitive and social capabilities to accomplish individual and collective goals. It also supports research that assesses the benefits, effects and risks of computing systems. View [Human-Centered Computing funding opportunities](https://www.nsf.gov/funding/opportunities/hcc-iis-human-centered-computing "IIS: Human-Centered Computing (HCC)"). **Information Integration and Informatics** The Information Integration and Informatics?(III) program supports innovative research on computational methods for the full data life cycle, from collection through knowledge discovery to archiving and retrieval. III projects range from formal theoretical research to those that advance data-intensive applications of scientific, engineering or societal importance. View [Information Integration and Informatics funding opportunities](https://www.nsf.gov/funding/opportunities/iii-iis-information-integration-informatics "IIS: Information Integration and Informatics (III)"). **Robust Intelligence** The Robust Intelligence?(RI) program supports research in all aspects of the computational understanding and modeling of intelligence in complex and realistic contexts. RI systems are characterized by flexibility and resourcefulness and use of a variety of modeling or reasoning approaches, demonstrating a high level of intelligence and adaptability.
