Description
The U.S. National Science Foundation Emerging Frontiers Office (EF) supports multidisciplinary research and networking opportunities. Through this synergy, EF provides the opportunity to foster new initiatives and integrate them into core programs. **What we support** EF does not maintain any ongoing programs but provides a mechanism for the Directorate for Biological Sciences to develop cross-disciplinary, multidisciplinary and innovative programs that then move to being managed by one or several of the other divisions in the directorate. EF has also previously housed agency-wide efforts that BIO has stewarded, such as the Understanding the Rules of Life Big Idea.
