Soil and Water Conservation Society - Firman E. Bear Chapter

**About Us** The Firman E. Bear Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society (www.swcs.org) is the New Jersey Chapter of this International Professional Organization. Members of the chapter must be members of the National Organization. Chapter meetings are usually held twice a year with at least one meeting consisting of a tour and/or guest speaker. The chapter offers an annual Scholarship and an Ecological Excellence Award in partnership with Pineland's Nursery. A newsletter is published two times per year. The Chapter is run by an executive council who meet bi-monthly. **Our Mission** The Soil and Water Conservation Society fosters the development and application of science-based policies and practices for managing soil, water, and related natural resources in order to achieve sustainability. As a multidisciplinary professional association, SWCS promotes, through education and example, an ethic that recognizes the interdependence of people and the environment.
