About The Immigrant and Employee Rights Section (IER), enforces the anti-discrimination provision of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), [8 U.S.C. § 1324b](https://www.justice.gov/crt/about/osc/1324b.php). Regulations for this law are found at [28 C.F.R. Part 44](https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/CFR-2017-title28-vol2/pdf/CFR-2017-title28-vol2-part44.pdf). This federal law prohibits: 1) [citizenship status discrimination](https://www.justice.gov/crt/about/osc/htm/Webtypes2005.php) in hiring, firing, or recruitment or referral for a fee, 2) [national origin discrimination](https://www.justice.gov/crt/about/osc/htm/Webtypes2005.php) in hiring, firing, or recruitment or referral for a fee, 3) [unfair documentary practices](https://www.justice.gov/crt/types-discrimination) during the employment eligibility verification process (generally, Form I-9 and E-Verify), and 4) [retaliation or intimidation](https://www.justice.gov/crt/about/osc/htm/Webtypes2005.php).
