Accelerating economic growth through inclusive interventions that drive productivity and innovation is critical. Africa’s youth population is growing and will increasingly become the world’s workforce. It is estimated that by 2030, Africa will be home to the world’s largest workforce, with 375 million young people entering the labour market. With the right skills, young people will improve their lives and the lives of their communities. In Canada, the youngest, fastest-growing population is Indigenous people. Our focus in Canada is on supporting Indigenous youth in their pathways through education and on to meaningful work. Who we are All people, no matter their starting point in life, should have an equal chance to succeed. We believe that with access to education, financial services, skills training, and work opportunities, young people will improve their lives and have that chance. Since 2006, the Mastercard Foundation has committed $10 billion to advance education and financial inclusion in 74 countries, primarily in Africa, to catalyze prosperity for young Africans and to support Indigenous youth in Canada.
