Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development

The Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD) was established in 2019 to combine the Missouri Department of Higher Education, the Division of Workforce Development, and the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center. Realigning postsecondary education with the public workforce system gives Missourians the full breadth of options available to fit their interests, resources, and abilities. The vision of the joint agency is simple: **Every Missourian empowered with the skills and education needed for success**. MDHEWD reports to two governing boards. The [Coordinating Board for Higher Education](https://dhewd.mo.gov/about/cbhe "Coordinating Board for Higher Education (CBHE)") appoints a Commissioner to oversee the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development. The [State Workforce Development Board](https://dhewd.mo.gov/swdb "Missouri State Workforce Development Board (SWDB)") serves as a convener of state, regional, and local workforce system partners.
