North Carolina Community Foundation

At the North Carolina Community Foundation, we bring together generous people and connect them to causes and organizations they care about. We serve the entire state, with a focus on rural North Carolina.

Founded more than three decades ago, our mission is to inspire North Carolinians to make lasting and meaningful contributions to their communities.

We believe in the power of permanent philanthropy to strengthen our communities and people. By stewarding and growing donors’ gifts, we make a powerful impact through robust grants and scholarships programs.

Community impact

With $400 million in assets, NCCF sustains over 1,200 charitable funds and has awarded over $270 million in grants and scholarships since 1988. We have made this impact working with our:

• Fundholders to make grants to causes and organizations they care about and provide scholarships to deserving students.
• Affiliates and giving circles to award funds annually to local charitable organizations through competitive programs.

We also respond when North Carolinians need our help. We’ve raised and distributed over $10 million to charitable organizations through funds dedicated to providing support during the COVID-19 pandemic and after natural disasters.

Community leadership

Our statewide network of 53 affiliate foundations in 60 counties are our roots in North Carolina’s rural communities. The local leaders of our affiliates know their communities and make grants to local causes through grantmaking funds. The affiliates also act as convenors, bringing people together to identify needs and opportunities in each community we serve.
