About the Office of Electricity The Office of Electricity (OE) provides national leadership to ensure that the Nation’s energy delivery system is secure, resilient and reliable. Through research and development, OE develops new technologies to improve the infrastructure that effectively and securely brings electricity into our homes, offices, and factories, and OE also oversees the Federal and state electricity policies and programs that shape electricity system planning and market operations. Our Mission The Office of Electricity leads the Department of Energy’s research, development, and demonstration programs to strengthen and modernize our nation’s power grid so that our nation maintains a reliable, resilient, and secure electricity delivery infrastructure. Our Vision Working closely with industry and other stakeholders, we drive technological and operational advancements that ensure that every American home and business has reliable access to affordable energy, and that the U.S. sustains its global leadership in the clean energy transformation.
