About ORIP ORIP has two divisions: the Division of Comparative Medicine and the Division of Construction and Instruments. Mission Statement ORIP advances the NIH mission to seek fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness and disability. ORIP contributes to this mission by working to support innovative research ultimately aimed at protecting human health; develop scientists and scientific infrastructure; contribute to the country’s economic growth by expanding the biomedical knowledge base; and promote integrity, public accountability, and societal responsibility in scientific research.
