Description
**Mission of the Oklahoma Nathan Shock Center **
Provide unique intellectual, technical and mentorship resources to the research community to advance the biology of aging and expand the field of geroscience through a deeper understanding of the mechanisms that link aging to age-associated diseases.
The Oklahoma NSC integrates aging and geroscience research across the three major research institutions in Oklahoma City: the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, and the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System. To achieve its goal, the Oklahoma NSC provides intellectual leadership and innovation; training; mentorship; cutting-edge technology, and opportunities for research career development for future leaders, both within and beyond their institutions. The Oklahoma NSC also works closely with other NSCs and the NSC Coordinating Center (NSC3), as well as other NIA-funded Center programs, to advance NIA’s goal to extend the healthy, active years of life.
