About Us
The PMI Dallas Chapter is one of the most innovative all-volunteer chapters in the world, and we are proud of our 35+ year history as a chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI).
Membership for our chapter is over 4,000 members and our monthly dinner meetings typically attract over 100 attendees. We work hard to make sure that our members and Dallas-area project managers are aware of chapter events, and that they feel welcome when they arrive.
Our monthly newsletter and website keep members informed of chapter news, upcoming events, local training opportunities (vendors post these on our website for free as a service to our members), job listings, PMI happenings, and anything else we think they need to know.
The values we have are firmly focused on developing the quality of project management and recognizing it as a valued profession. To that end, we have developed innovative educational programs like our PMP Exam Review and PM101 (Basic Project Management) sessions. We support the local educational organizations that provide project management degree programs through our College Outreach Program. Our Registered Company Coordinators (RCCs) serve as single points of contact within major area employers for information regarding the Dallas chapter to assist their coworkers in identifying ways to take advantage of the services we provide. We are very proud of the Education Committee and RCC volunteers who make these programs possible.
Making project management indispensable to business results is a major PMI objective. There are three key components by which the PMI Dallas Chapter supports this initiative:
1. Project management education is a long-standing strength of the PMI Dallas Chapter. Our PMP exam reviews are sold out long before each quarterly session, and our PM101 (Basic Project Management) Sessions are also highly popular. Our School Outreach program builds relationships between the Chapter and area educational institutions offering project management degree programs. Finally, our website lists local training opportunities from a variety of vendors.
2. Member Involvement is absolutely crucial to the success of the entirely volunteer-run Chapter. There are a number of ways for members to become involved in the Chapter's operations, programs, and events. All members (and potential members) are encouraged to take advantage of the educational and networking opportunities available at the monthly meetings, typically held the second Thursday of every month. For members that prefer a more active role, volunteers are always welcome, in a wide range of areas and time commitments. Members are also welcome to share feedback with the PMI Dallas Chapter leadership team at any time.
3. Corporate Involvement is highly encouraged in a number of ways. A number of notable area employers participate in the Registered Company Coordinator (RCC) program, in which a designated individual serves as a single point of contact for that organization's employees to identify ways in which the Dallas Chapter can be of service. We also provide companies with a free website job listing service so they have direct access to our qualified member base.
