Description
VISION, MISSION, VALUES About the Sisters Health Foundation Guided by its vision of "healthy people in healthy communities," the Sisters Health Foundation supports efforts that promote and address healthy eating, active living; thriving neighborhoods; and mental health and addiction in the Mid-Ohio Valley. Established in 1996, the Sisters Health Foundation continues and expands the health ministry of the Congregation of St. Joseph. Vision Our vision is healthy people in healthy communities. The vision embraces a broad view of health that includes spiritual, emotional, physical, social, and economic well-being, with special concern for people who are poor or otherwise underserved. Mission Our mission is to promote healthy and sustainable communities by providing resources, strengthening collaborative relationships, and supporting initiatives that impact people in the Mid-Ohio Valley. Through this mission, the Sisters Health Foundation seeks to enhance the rich gifts already found in local communities. Values and Congregation of St. Joseph (CSJ) Mission Network The Sisters Health Foundation is a founding member of the Congregation of St. Joseph Mission Network. As members of this Mission Network, we join the Congregation in carrying forth the core CSJ vision described in the Generous Promises and in Our Sacred Work. Members of the CSJ Mission Network are vibrant expressions of the mission of unity. Always moving toward excellence, we serve the dear neighbor in the manner of Jesus, manifesting God's active, inclusive, and unifying love through hospitality, generosity, service, and zeal. We recognize that there are vulnerable population groups in our region who may be unable to achieve their full health potential because of their social position or other socially determined circumstances. Some examples of these vulnerable groups include people of color, people with intellectual and development disabilities, people with low-to-moderate income, people who are elderly, people with mental health disorders, people with substance use disorders, and people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ). As an organization that believes in unity and values mental health, inclusion is critical to our approach and our effectiveness as a foundation. We understand that mental health is significantly impacted by our unique perspectives, backgrounds, and identities. Feeling understood, accepted, and supported is an important protective factor for our mental health, while discrimination, stigma, and mistreatment can negatively impact one s overall health. We strive to work with others to create an environment where healthy people in healthy communities can thrive. Rooted in this common mission of unity, we therefore: - Exercise our personal and collective leadership to bring about a more just and peaceful world. - Collaborate with others to change societal systems that cause injustice, oppression, and poverty. - Take steps to strengthen, heal, and renew Earth. - Work toward transforming the culture of power, privilege, and violence to a culture that is inclusive, embraces diversity, and welcomes the gifts of all. CSJ Mission Network Vision - We use our influence and actions to impact positive change, improve lives, and transform systems and culture for the common good. CSJ Mission Network Mission We are a dynamic union of diverse members with shared values and a common commitment to the CSJ mission of uniting all neighbors with God, one another, and all creation.
