Description
**TRISERVICE NURSING RESEARCH PROGRAM** The TriService [Nursing](http://www.usuhs.edu) Research Program (TSNRP) is the country’s first and only Department of Defense program that supports and allows armed forces nurses to conduct military nursing research. Recognizing that military nurses play a critical role in the health and welfare of the military population, Congress appropriated $1 million for nursing research in 1992. Since then, TSNRP has funded more than 500 grants totaling more than $100 million, resulting in changes to clinical practice, education, and policy across the Defense Health Agency. The mission of the TriService Nursing Research Program is to facilitate nursing research to optimize the health of military members and their beneficiaries. Broadly speaking, military nursing research is concerned with: - Optimizing the Performance of Service Members - Patterns of illness, stress, and injury that are unique to the military - Occupational and environmental hazards that affect health and readiness - Intervention studies to improve outcomes or deliver high quality care in a cost-effective manner To address these concerns, our mission is to provide resources for the conduct and use of research to foster excellence in military nursing care. Our strategic goals are: - Develop nurse scholars and facilitate TriService scholarly collaboration via the Early Career Investigator Coaching Program and TSNRP Nursing Fellows Program, among other initiatives. - Provide a TriService infrastructure to enhance military nursing research and advance Evidence-Based Practice. - Support research and Evidence-Based Practice projects on areas relevant to military readiness and military nursing practice. - Enhance strategic communication to TSNRP stakeholders to increase awareness and relevance of military nursing research and Evidence-Based Practice. TSNRP supports quantitative and qualitative studies from armed services Nurse Corps members to include all clinical specialties to advance care for service members and their beneficiaries in several strategic research areas: - Force Health Protection - Fit and Ready Force - Deploy with and care for our warriors - Care for all entrusted to our care - Nursing Competencies and Practice - Patient Outcomes - Quality and Safety - Translate research into practice/Evidence-Based Practice - Clinical Excellence - Knowledge Management - Education and Training - Leadership, Ethics, and Mentoring - Health Policy - Recruitment and Retention - Preparing Tomorrow's Leaders - Care of the Caregiver **TRISERVICE NURSING RESEARCH PROGRAM** The TSNRP mission is to facilitate nursing research to optimize the health of military members and their beneficiaries.
