Because when every family and every child has the chance to thrive, our community has a stronger, brighter future. **impact areas** We work toward our mission by addressing needs in four key areas: **Youth Opportunity -** Expanding access to education, mentorship, and career pathways so every young person can succeed in school and beyond. **Resilient Communities -** Strengthening the networks, relationships, and systems that help communities adapt, recover, and thrive. **Healthy Community -** Supporting access to physical, mental, and behavioral health services that promote well-being for all. **Financial Security -** Helping individuals and families achieve stability through access to resources, education, and opportunities to build lasting wealth. **DIFFERENCE-MAKING DONORS** With the help of our generous donors and volunteers, we help the community in three ways. ****First****, we give like-minded nonprofits the resources they need. - Through the years, United Way has raised more than $636,218,254 to support organizations large and small that work to ensure all people have the opportunity to thrive. **[Learn more about our 90 year history here.](https://uwncnm.org/90th-celebration/)** ****Second****, we mobilize individuals and local businesses to take action. - For example, our **[Workplace Giving program](https://uwncnm.org/workplace-toolkit)** is one of the most impactful programs of UWNCNM. Making a donation through work may be something businesses have not previously considered.
