OUR VISION
Communities where all individuals and families have the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
OUR HISTORY
Founded in 1922, the United Way of Southwestern Indiana first began as a local Community Chest organization. It funded 17 agencies in southwestern Indiana. In 1937, the United Way began to do more than raise and allocate funds and began focusing on addressing needs in the community. The forerunner to First Call for Help, now the 2-1-1 information and help line, was established in 1938. In 1958, the organization became a United Fund.
