ABOUT US Diversity efforts at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) are organized by the Weill Cornell Diversity Council (WCDC). This group is comprised of representatives from various sectors within Weill Cornell Medical College (student affairs, human resources, the graduate school, affiliate members, legal counsel, and the student body), and meets on a monthly basis. The format of the agenda allows for all members to provide an update on their particular work, discuss challenges that arise, explore new initiatives, and plan next steps. We have established work groups to allow members to focus on specific areas - including hiring and promotion practices, and pipeline programs. MISSION The mission of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at Weill Cornell Medical College is to foster an atmosphere in which individual characteristics are respected, where differences are valued as much as similarities. Our goal is to create a collaborative working and learning environment. We believe that diversity is a platform for developing creative solutions to challenging healthcare problems, advancing cutting-edge biomedical research, and designing and implementing innovative teaching modalities in medical education. We view diversity in the broadest sense, including differences in race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, sex, ability, religious practices, socioeconomic class, citizenship, life experiences, and other important aspects of human life.
