Biography

Dr. Baze (she/her/hers) has a B.S.Ed. in Secondary Education - Biology (2011) and an M.A. in Science Teaching (2017) from Northern Arizona University (NAU), and a Ph.D. in STEM Education (2021) from The University of Texas at Austin. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Arizona. Now back at NAU, her research focuses on science and engineering practices, feminism in STEM, STEM identity, and STEM epistemologies, using design-based, qualitative, and mixed methodologies. In her teaching, she uses ambitious science teaching and culturally responsive pedagogies to support students' understanding of science and science teaching.
