Biography

BIO Marilya Veteto Reese, Professor of German at Northern Arizona University, was trained as a literary translator by the late A. Leslie Willson while attaining her doctoral degree from The University of Texas at Austin. Since 1982, she has published some 200 literary translations by authors and poets from all over Germany with various backgrounds. Full list avail on request or by viewing curriculum vitae. Reese's most recent German-to-English book-length translation is a volume of poetry and sculpture by Zehra Çirak and Jürgen Walter, respectively—Die Kunst der Wissenschaft/The Art of Science—undertaken with Elizabeth Oehlkers Wright published by Hans Schiler Verlag, Tübingen/Berlin. Reese's first English-to-German translation of a Anglo-Navajo coming of age novel by Flagstaff author Warren Perkins undertaken with Klara Schroth was released in 2018 by Schiler. Reese's own duo of sestinas, one English, one German, was published in TransLit2 in 2019.
